Working overseas has many advantages, heres some of the benefits of working abroad:
- Looks great on your CV
- Improve your communication skills
- Your confidence will get better
- You will be more independent and your personality will develop;
- Learn a new language
- Learn new methods/styles/industry standards
- You may gain new qualifications
- Chance to experience different cultures
So how do you go about getting a job abroad?
Well If you are REALLY serious about this then start doing your research now. When you decide on a place, tell your friends and family, your co-workers, your neighbours.. basically everyone and anyone you can. Chances are someone might know someone and put you in the right direction.
Your going to want to try build a network in the place your planning on going. So lets say its New York, you’ll want to try get to know as many people in New York as you can before going to make things easier.
Next do some googling and see if you can find any job positions online also on Facebook and social media look for Job groups in these locations. Theres even groups for working abroad usually too – for example there is an Ibiza workers group where people can join and try get jobs.
Preparing for your travels
Do you need to learn another language? best trying to learn as much of the local language as you can now. Research into the company you’re joining too, see what there values are and what the works like if you can. Find out whats around your new home too and do some research on what the locals are like.
Still out of luck?
If you really want this you will find a job. If you really want it you will find it! Save some money and just head out – spend a month there and ask about. Go to the office and ask for a job rather than emailing or phoning etc etc
