Here I have a few of my top newly popular destinations for 2018.
Riyadh, Saudi Arabia
Formally, Saudi Arabia wouldn’t have been at the top of your list for travel; however, in recent years cities such as the capital, Riyadh has become more and more tourist friendly and popular since starting to reissue tourist visas earlier this year. Saudi Arabia has incredible weather, delicious food, beautiful and well preserved cultural sites, and a plethora of western hotels such as the stunning Fraser Suites, Riyadh. If you do decide to visit Riyadh, make sure you try some of the local cuisine including traditional Saleeg, a white rice dish which consists of rice cooked in a delicious broth and originates from the West of Saudi Arabia.
Baku is the capital and the commercial hub of Azerbaijan, which has a great deal of wealth opulence due to their large amount of oil. The city its self boasts a very bustling nightlife with a vast array of divine restaurants serving some of the best cuisine both traditional local and local takes on international favourites.
A popular pastime in Baku Is afternoon tea, where tea is traditionally drank with locally made jams. In order to consume this, you take a teaspoon of the jam, place it in your mouth and drink the tea without eating the jam. This creates a delicious flavour combination and is the perfect way to meet new people and socialise with friends and family alike.
Located in the Normandy region of Northern France, Caen has quickly become a popular tourist destination. This port town has incredible weather in the summer and boasts some incredible seafood restaurants, beautiful architecture and incredible museums including Mémorial de Caen.
Mémorial de Caen is a museum dedicated to World War II and with information and exhibitions educating about the Battle of Caen (1944). The museum is located in a stunning park in the northern side of Caen. This would make a great day out in the summer exploring the park whilst learning about some of the fascinating history of the ground you are walking on.
Due to the location of Caen, it can easily be reached from the United Kingdom by plane, ferry or even Car. If you are traveling as a family, this would make the perfect stop on a French road trip, with easy access to other northern French towns and cities of interest.
